480gtx build for summer

I am preparing for a new build over the summer, I recently recieved a free gtx480 and need somewhere to put it. My budget is undetermined right now, probably around $1000. This computer will be used for Programming on multiple platforms,CAD,A&V creation and editing, virtual machines, light file hosting, maybe a little gaming when were not busy with the previous things Im in the US and prefer to purchase parts on Newegg. since im waiting until the summer when im not so busy, i dont know what CPU will be the best for my needs, but I have a bias for Intel, unless bulldozer cpu's push away the market before then I don't need a second video card, the 480 should handle the CAD and video editing, and im thinking 8+ gigs ram and a full tower case, nothing fancy, but good performance/price ratio. All suggestions welcome.

The Asus based P67-based mainboards and Intel i5-2500k seems standard 'new build' recommended fare these days....

I agree with the 2500k for now. we'll see if any new ones come out. i also considered a E3 server processor, the 1240 is about the same price.

overclocking results of 2500k? or E3's?
How much/fast = ram?
case recommendations?
