I am figuring out this TCP\IP stuff and I cannot find an explanation of subnet masking that makes sense. Does anyone have a link that works for a simple person?

Also I am finding my home network is entirely 192.168.1.xxx except for my DSL router has the ip of 192.168.0.1

All of my computers have access to the internet. Even though the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, which goes back to my lack of understanding.

Should My DSL router be given a different IP? Or should my network? or just leave well enough alone?

This is more for my education then any issues.

Any help to this one would be appreciated.

This site puts it much better than I could. http://compnetworking.about.com/od/workingwithipaddresses/a/subnetmask.htm
