Upgrade from 4GB-8GB worth?

Hey Guys,

I have an acer 5740G. I've had it for quite sometime now, got it when the first line of i3s came out.

It has been wonderful so far, but more recently, i've had too much of work and had to multi task. I added another monitor and i usually work with over 10 windows on firefox.

The lappy on a whole slowed down a lot. The only issues i could find are a non defragged hard drive, rather full hard drive and a few unwanted programs which barely do anything.

Can a RAM upgrade help? I could upgrade it to 8GB, something from GSkill would be good. Do you suggest a RAM upgrade or is there more to this than a RAM upgrade?

A RAM upgrade should definitely help, as it really is the limiting factor for running multiple things simultaneously.

If you do upgrade you will more than likely have to reinstall your copy of windows to a 64bit copy to be able to use the extra RAM. So keep that in mind.

It is already a 64 bit version of windows so i guess i could go ahead?

Also, any idea if i could do maybe 16GB on this notebook?

Nope, unfortunately 8 is as high as you can go. But beyond that it really wouldn't help you.
