as it says in the thread head....which is best out of the 2...
the nvidia geforce 6600 or the radeon x 1900 xtx..........
both are old i know just had a bundle of stuff given and these were in the box.......
Way much more. Even if you put two 6600GTs in SLI, you'd only be about as fast as a 6800GT. This is like a 7600GT in performance. Even my older x1800XT is like the 7900GT, so imagine how much fast the x1900XTX is. Its not even close.
I owned both, the x1900xtx is hands down best by far single dx9 card you have have. The r580 cards so overpower All geforce6 and most geforce7 cards in games it is a no brainer.

finally sorted out what i thought was carboot stuff..
and not only was there, these 2 graphics cards(nvidia geforce 6600 or the radeon x 1900xtx),but this one aswell........Radeon X1300 Pro
anyone tell me what there like compared to the others mentioned ???????????
I think the order is x1300pro < 6600 < x1900xtx. The 1300 and 6600 will be close but I'm pretty sure the 6600 is faster. The 1300pro should be like the 6200? Probably sits between the 6200 and 6600.
Exactly as you said.
If I recall correctly, the X1300 Pro was in the league on the X700 (non Pro) which was a direct competitor of the 6600 (non GT); the 6600 was faster than the X700 (non Pro).
The X1900XTX is still a great card to have in a Pentium 4 / Athlon system for legacy gaming or even as a secondary machine when needed. You can still game new games at lower resolutions and quality settings with that card. It has similar horsepower to the cards powering the Xbox 360 and PS3. It's from the same generation and time.
The x1900xtx is best when pared with a modern dual core. Even a quad if gaming isn't the defining factor. They are nice when you want all the heat out of the case unlike all most all cards. It is one of a rare few that actually exhaust all the heat out the case and the air flow design is a wonder.

first off thanks for all the input.....but just to clear things up,im not a gamer
and i've not actually bought the cards ..they were in a box i've had given as carboot sale stuff..
i have had the cover off my tower and the x1900xtx does'nt fit my mother board.
so i hav'nt been able to try it out ...
Do any of those cards look different from the others?
If your not a gamer and just looking to use one, then perhaps the x1300pro is your best bet. If your not having issues with your graphics I actually suggest you continue to use whatever your using now.
Title says: "Which is best geforce 6600 or x1900xtx "
Answer: The best geforce of those two is the 6600, being the only geforce video card out of those two also! (ha ha )
As for the real meaning of the question x1900XTX is better.
For the problem of fitting try to find a cable that has a 90 degree angle to connect from your psu cable to the board. If the connection is unusable in any way because of the video card i would do as 4745454b posted above.
