Me and my buddy both bought a new computer his being a little lower in hardware specs but at the same settings he outperforms me in call of duty black ops by about 10-20 FPS.

My Specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor (6 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 6870
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter ( 0x68B8 )
Display Memory: 748 MB
Dedicated Memory: 1008 MB
Shared Memory: 3835 MB
Current Mode: 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) (120Hz)
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Hard Drive: 1 TB (1000GB)
Hard Drive RPM: 7300 RPM
Headset: (Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Headset)
Mouse: Razer Deathadder (3500DPI Edition)
Keyboard: Logitech G15

His Specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1035T Processor (6 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5770
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter ( 0x68B8 )
Display Memory: 4070 MB
Dedicated Memory: 1011 MB
Shared Memory: 3059 MB
Current Mode: 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) (120Hz)
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Hard Drive: 1 TB (1000GB)
Hard Drive RPM: 7300 RPM

As you can see ive spent the little extra money on my pc hoping to get alittle extra out of it.. but in black ops he outperforms me in most situations by 10-20 fps at same settings! Any idea's on whats going on here

I thought the 6870 was sapose to outperform the 5770

What are the motheboards and memory model numbers? Also, how about some info from CPU-Z in regards to CPU and memory?

Both computers are using

H-RS880-uATX (Aloe)

And the memory model number in both PC's is DDR3

To clear things up, there both bought from best buy There HP systems He left his stock, while i opted in buying a new graphics card the AMD Radeon HD 6870 and upgrade the power supply, as stock power supplys suck. i upgraded the power suply to a 750w Corsair

Here is my CPU-z Results: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1788540

(heres something i noticed may be erelevant but my core speed sits at around 800MHz if im just doing nothing when i start doing stuff it will pop up to 2700MHZ.)

My friend is at work atm so i cant get his CPU-z results but he has pretty much the same processor no? from my understanding the only difference between the 1035T and 1045T is the .1 difference in core speed.

And just to be even more clear the settings were running black ops at are:
1680x1050
AA: 4x
Texture Quality: EXTRA
Shader Warming: No
Shadows: Yes
Vsync: No
Aspect Ratio: 16:10
Antistropic Filtering: Max (Trilinear)
Bullet Impacts: Yes

At the same spot in the map (Lots of textures etc) He was getting around 67 FPS while i was getting 56ish

As a quick note i just realised theres a 11.4 driver preview (beta) out so im gonna update to that as its pretty much a driver update based on increasing the performance of the 6870.. ill let you know how that goes.

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Catalyst114e...

Up to 59% performance improvement in Call of Duty: Black Ops (Seems like a farely large number lol)

The 11.4 Drivers didnt really do anything that i noticed. this is kinda getting on my ticks..

The 6870 by bench is sapose to outperform the 5770 by a farly large margin right? why am i experiencing such slow performance.

quick note.. i turned the graphics all the way up and i seem to be having better performance? i dont get it how is that so.

So i had some free time...

So i went ahead and put the Stock AMD HD 5770 back in my comp and ran 3DMark 2011
And these were the results here:
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1094474

I then swapped out to my new AMD HD 6870 and these were the results of 3Dmark11
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1094598

As you can see the 6870 did outperform the 5770 by quite alot...

The problem i see here is
Why on gods name will 3dmark not recogonize my Core clock and Memory clock on the 6870 but it recognizes it on the 5770?
Could this be an issue?

I know you'll probably get angry at this answer, but could you possibly post hijackthis logs of both computers? Maybe its a background process interfering with your game. Also, what happens when you test a game of similar graphics (if possible)?
