Push power fans start briefly...then turns off

This is probably a no brainer but...when I hit the power button the computer tries to fire up but stops dead before initializing much more than the fans. There are no audible beeps or sounds that anything is getting past the initial 1-2 seconds. Definitely no boot screen.

My initial thought is either:
A) Power supply
B) Power button

This is an older HP system but one that I need to get back up and running because its business related. Please help.

I have had the same issue which turned out to be the power supply, if you can try a different psu and see if it works

Can you remove and reinstall the motherboard? Try taking it out, might have a short.

I really hope its not that. Its been working fine.

Ends up that its either the processor or MoBo. Not good! :-(

did you try a diff psu

Yes I did. Even took the ram out and tried more.
