No limit budget but few restrictions

I need to build a rig for someone who wants "the fastest PC" available.
Odd request I know.
I myself get a i7-930, 6870, OCZ 256GB SSD, UD3R etc...
So that person asked me to build for him something that will load lightning fast the OS, load quickly the apps (Office Suite, Video softwares etc...) with the minimum of noise, and not a big case like mine (HAF 922). He has 2 42 inch monitor.

I am thinking of a 990X/995X with 12-24GB RAM, RAID1+0 or RAID5 SSDs 480gb or fastest SSDs... Something like that.
That rig should be a very good performer for at least a year and I am ondering if LGA1366 is 8-cores ready too.

I know the request is weird so please don't jump in like "you don't need that power for those needs!" just help me building a rig that'll
fly high.

No budget ($5000-$10k) dual monitor can be changed too. Just have fun putting the no budget limit rigs in here!

Even if someone is determined or willing to pay 200% extra cpu cost (think 990x here!) for that last insignificant 200 MHz, I find it unethical to recommend doing so, when $220 2500K pus offer 98-99% of the same performance for 20% of the cost...

There will be no 8 core socket 1366 models; if you want 8 cores/16 threads, you will be looking at socket 2011, the new flagship, this summer, w/quad channel memory acess, and likely too much money spent for what will likely be a 2-3% performance inrease over socket 1155/1366, mostly accounted for by the 200 MHz higher clockspeeds...

SSDs in the largest sizes are insanely expensive; a single quality SSD of moderate capacity and perhaps a few speedy conventional drives for storage should suffice. (a pair of Samsung F3 drives at 1 TB are quite inexpensive)

Could I spend $3000 more and have a 1% faster system? Possibly. Worth it? I sure doubt it!

Naturally, the ultimate monitors are still the 30"/2560x1600 Dells/HPs....; most 42" affiars are likely merely 1080P res, and lack resolution for fine desktop/text/ type work, IMO

I agree with mdd1963. I would actually wait till later this summer for the best build. The new boards and possible drop in price for SSD's is worth the wait for me.

If you are looking to build the "fastest PC possible", there are ways to do this for a much lower price tag than you would have building a system that only benches a tick more.

You would never see the difference with anything you do by going Extreme on this.

I'd have to agree with what has been said...It's hard for me to see people spend an excessive amount for next to no extra performance...built a solid machine now that does what you need it to...save the cash for future upgrades.

If it were me, I'd wait on the summer too.
