I am going to get the intel i5 2400 because its the highest i5 i can get in my price range. It is clocked at 3.1 ghz and the turbo boost kicks it up to 3.4 ghz. now does that turn on automatically or do i need to turn it on and would it effect gaming? thanks

I believe the 2400 is hardware-limited to 300MHz overclock though.

You do realize that max turboboost only uses 1 core and only kicks in when 1 core is being used. other wise different turbo modes go into effect depending on how many cores are being used and how hot the processor is. With that being said, many people are saying they never see their cpu's go into max mode which makes sense to me since windows 7 should be assigning threads to different cores for load balancing.
