Hi guys,

I've just ordered the following: http://www.gainward.net/main/vgapro.php?id=455

My plan is/was to OC it like a reference card is being OC'ed in this article: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2011/01/25/nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-1gb-review/10

Just after I placed my order, I read this thread: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/938966-warning-about-gainward-gtx-560-a.html :fou:

What do you guys think? Should I return it, as the poster in the thread, or do you think it will OC just fine like the tested reference card?

First try the card's performance @ stock. Then you'll think about OC'ing it. And if you OC it try not to go too hard on the mem. modules, it seems that they do not have adecuate cooling for OC freq.

Thanks!

I have absolutely no experience with OC'ing, so what would be "not to go too hard on the mem"? Is it less than in the posted link? From what I've seen elsewhere, it doesn't seem as if they push the card to the limit.

Isn't it also just a matter of watching the card's temperature? And, if so, what would be the limit? In the link the temperature seems to be 32 degree celsius, but that's probably not during load.

When you oc a gpu, you oc the core and the memory. The core seems to have adequate cooling (the fan is sitting right above it) but it seems that it doesn't cool the memory modules well. So i'd suggest that you oc the modules 50-60 mhz, maybe even 70mhz above stock clock, and try to oc the core to 900 mhz.

If you can add good aftermarket cooler, you may push the the core to 940-50 mhz. Look at today's article on Tom's about 6 factory oc'ed gtx 560's. Gigabyte and Sparkle's cards have core freq. of 1GHz (almost 200 mhz from stock) with nice aftermarket coolers with dual fans and good amount of heatpipes.
