It has been awhile sense i built my PC and it has a 9600 in it right now, I find that the card is no longer preforming well in a new game I'm playing and thought i would upgrade it. Well all the new cards say they require pci express2 x 16 and my motherboard has a pci express 16 slot.

Are the new cards not compatible with my motherboard? It really hasn't been that long sense I put this system together maybe 4 years.

Motherboard GA-p35-s3g

Most new cards are PCIe 2.1, which should be compatible... I'm not exactly sure what the deal is; There might be a few issues but for the most part they are compatible.

I am looking at this card to be more exact EVGA 01G-P3-1366-TR GeForce GTX 460 SE (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

Will that card work ok with my PCI Express x 16 slot in my motherboard?
