Hello,

I've got an dell xps 420, it's about 3 years old now, and I wanna make some upgrades, but mostly I want to know what is a good/best graphic card that the XPS 420 can have that will handle some of the PC titles coming soon, say like the Witcher 2orcrysis 2 at high end spec

the specs are:
vista 32 bit(intend to change that to win 7 64)
3 GB DDR2 RAM(going for 8GB)
Intel quad core 2 (Q6600) 2.40GHz
and currently have NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT
PCI Express x16

Looking for a reasonable price range of £200 to £300 maybe a little bit over if necessary.

What's the PSU? Also i'd recommend getting a HD 6870, anything above that and your cpu will start bottlenecking it badly. The mobo bios is probably locked, (it's an oem, they usually lock the bios, and even if they don't it has little options for oc) so, you can't oc your cpu.

Also get an pcie 2.0 version of the card, i think that pcie 2.1 won't work on pcie 1.0.

Thank you for the feed back I'll look into the graphic cards, and sorry I didn't mention it earlier ,the Psu is 375 W so i'd imagine that will need changing.

Only if you're looking to get one of the uber cards.

I would side with the 6850 personally, what extra you might get from the 6870 wouldnt be worth the differance compaired to knowing your well within your power usage range with a 6850 as far as im concerned.
