I've had two Acer laptops, bought the second less than a year ago because
the first treated me so well (I passed it on to my wife, bought it in
2000).

They pack a LOT of value into their systems, and my Aspire 2000 runs for 5
hours on battery!

Depending on where you are in the world, service ratings differ. Here in
Toronto, because they have a repair factory in the suburbs, they offer a 48
hour drop-off/pick-up. But I haven't ever needed it in five years.
