Have a asus board running quad core amd can i put a dual in with no problem

can i change back to a dual core amd after having a quad core amd running or do i have to re set things i bios

No problem as long as it's a supported processor. If your OS is Windows, you may have to uninstall the old processor in Device Manager and then Scan for hardware changes for the OS to properly detect the new processor.

Go into Device Manager, right-click Processor and click Uninstall. Then reboot or Scan for hardware changes. This step might be required if Windows doesn't display the correct processor name, but the system would still work fine even if you don't do it. Note that Windows might also detect the new processor automatically.
