Red CPU led ASUS P7P55D + i5-750

I have had my computer running for almost 8 months without a problem, today I attempted to turn my computer on and it wouldn't POST. the case fans and leds turn on but the heatsink fan doesn't move and the cpu led light is red. i haven't had any problems with temperatures, my Scythe Mugen-2 heatsink does a very good job, nothing as changed in the past 8 months with the computer, I've only even opened the case a couple of times. maybe the cpu is dead and I need to contact Intel?

if anyone could help me figure out this problem, it would be a big help.

You can try reseatting the CPU. There is a very very low chance that the CPU is dead. Start by pulling components one by one. It could even be memory.
