More about help decide 5750 5550
  1. Well what do you use your computers for? (e.g; Gaming, Internet-only, Photoshop etc.)
  2. Playing gaming? => HD 5750

Not playing games? => HD 5550
  3. i dont recommend getting anything below the hd 5750 if its for gaming, you will be disappointed, if u are not planning on gaming much, get the other one
  4. Make sure your power supple can handle the 5750.
  5. Whats your system specs?(monitor resoultion,CPU,PSU,etc.,etc.)

Can't really give a valid reccomendation since i don't know what your full use of it will be and your current specs.
  6. ok sorry about my blant sentences from yesterday

i got 2 cards on my hand right now
    1) 5750 gddr5 512mb 128bit (needs a 500watt psu and external power
    2) 5550 ddr3 1gb 128bit

i do plan on heavy gaming like black ops and such

the starter pc i would be getting a

    1.8 core2duo
    1gb ram
80gb hdd with an additional 250gb hdd

and i want your advice on it

ahh one more thing the 5750 is a used card i would buy
the 5550 would be a new card

or is there anyother card i can buy beside these which are good and are under 100$

    p.s
i don't plan on adding a monster psu the current one i would be getting is 305watt
  7. You need to check the + 12 volt power(it should be called combined 12 volt on a multi rail psu) on that power supply. That will determine if 305 is enough.

A link to the 305 in question would be helpful.
  8. HD 5750 Will even Run Fine with a 400w good vendor powersupply.is good for gaming.and twice as powerful as HD 5550.There is much big difference, you cannot compare it with Hd 5750.
IF You will be Gaming, then surely its hd 5750.
IF You will not be gaming then hd 5550 is great choice for hd playback.
However 1.8ghz cpu is a big bottleneck.you must overclock your cpu above 2.5ghz to be able to take settings to high.
  9. I would defnitly think of upgrading your CPU first before GPU.A computer that slow will likely bring you problems if your a heavy gamer. With either your CPU or GPU you will defnily not be maxing out any games until you do a serious overhaul?

How much is your total budget?

Why is that the starter PC you'd be getting? That CPU is absolute garbage. My girlfriend had probably the same exact PC. Is it an HP? She already had it at 2gb RAM and it still was ***. I bought her a new mobo and a 2.7ghz C2D CPU for like $150, and she bought a 4gb DDR3 RAM kit and Win 7 64bit and now the PC is actually decent. I should mention she doesn't even play games on it. It was slow just for casual windows/internet/word doc stuff.

I would definitely say stay away from that garbage unless you're getting it completely free. But honestly for like $400 you could make a better gaming rig.
  11. +1 your CPU is not good for gaming and 1gb ram is not enough. it wont matter too much what gfx card you get since the rest of your computer is crap. Forget core 2 duo's.

Get yourself at least an 3ghz athlon x3 CPU. 2gb ram is minimum and if your running windows 7 or vista i would say get at least 3gb ram. Then add your 5750 and you will have a PC that can play games at 1440x900 resolution with high detail settings.
