I come to think im just a casual gamer and im gonna buy a new pc soon

my question is..

im gonna buy the e5300 and pair it with gts250?

or e7400 and pair it with 4670 or gts220?.. im in tight budget and building this pc must cause cheap best and efficient.

is it worth the processor the e7400? or the videocard for gaming?..

whats the best edge for you?

for all you guys i will not be overclocking..

im only building this pc for casual/ perforamance gaming and genaral use.

pairing the them with gigabyt g31 board only.

need advice thanks!

IMO, given current prices, an E6300(2.8 wolfdale) paired with an ATI 4870 512 mb would hit the sweet spot in your price range. CPU $80 GPU $125

Weird thing with the E6300 Prices.... the cpu was $65 last month.. hmmm

If you do not already own a mobo for this setup, as o1die said, an amd combo would treat you right.

the gt 240's came out today. some versions have gddr5 memmory on them.and for around $100 bucks. looks like a nice card. beats 4670 in most games in fps.the e7400 is just over $100 as well. would be nice light gaming set up for about $250 including tax shipped from the egg!

Here we go again with the new nvidia card.. :non: .. Please do not compare it to the 4670, they are 2 different price points. The 4670 is $65 part, shave another $10-15 off that for rebates. As for a $100 card, the ATI 4850 smokes the new Nvidia card.

Could you give us your price range? It would give us a number to work with :)

your making an ass-umption that he needs raw power. the words " casual, efficient" got used so that made me ass-ume he was interested in a lower power gpu. something that won't need addition power supplied to it and keep his overall system power use down. and the difference between a his 4670 with 1 gig of ddr3 and the good cooler and the gt 240 with 1 gig of ddr3 is 10 bucks. i wouldn't buy a 4670 with a crummy cooler and half the ram to save 20 bucks. i have just as much fun playing cod4 on my small pc with a 4650 as i do on my big one with the 5850 in it. i'm not an nvidia fanboy, just sayin!

and i have two 4850's. one is an xfx version with the good cooler on it in my kids pc, and i like it. the other is the original one with the refrence cooler and it sucks. you either have a quiet card that overheats and flakes out or you have a stable card that sounds like a jet. cheap card usually means cheap cooling solution.
