I upgraded from my MSI 4670 512 GB and it feels like the biggest mistake I've ever made. The 4670 was perfect in every way. It took me two days to get the resolution right with the 4870. I originally had a VGA-DVI cable running from my 1080p monitor which worked just fine with the 4670, but with the 4870 I could only get up to 1600x1200. After I bought an HDMI-DVI cable, I was able to get the resolution back up to 1080. And then there was this whole flickering problem that I somehow managed to eliminate by fiddling around. Now that everything is fine, I am still not content because the picture quality seems a bit off. The image is so sharp/contrasty that its giving me a headache and looks slightly pixelated/blurry on the edges of text. I read somewhere that this can be fixed by using the Full RGB 4 4 4 option in Pixel Format but that option doesn't show up on my CCC... Again.. was upgrading a bad idea??

EDIT: Now there is another problem.. Everytime I try starting a new game, my screen goes blank.. regardless of what game I try playing. This happened with Just Cause 2, COD 2, and PES 2011.

Definitely a driver problem. You need to uninstall the drivers, reboot, and run driversweeper or something to clean it out. Form there re-install the drivers and you should be fine. It's preferable to use HDMI or DVI but if you use VGA you will have to adjust the monitor settings. Your monitor should have some kind of automatic adjust and that will take care of the image settings. You could just sit there and manually adjust everything, but it's a real pain :p .

If you want to watch blu-ray or something then you need to use HDMI. If your using a TV, as it sounds like you might, then it may be a little more difficult. Depending on your TV you may have to sit there and fiddle with the overscan.
