Ddr2 crashing

I have 2 1gb sticks of patriot 800 ddr2 ram. I allow the timing to be set by spd...I know little about ram timings. I have regular crashes with it that can be traced to no particular activity. If I slow the ram to 667mhz my system is very stable but ooohh soo sloooow. I am wondering if somebody might have suggesting of how I might tweak my timings just a bit to get a stable system at 800 mhz

use cpu-z http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html and compare the spd with the memory setting then ajust manualy to the max system support without bsod

Try to clear the CMOS jumper on the motherboard. Then, load the optimized default setting inside the BIOS. SAVE and EXIT.
