Same thing on both laptops, one is a .11b other is a .11g card... same behavior....

I'd start by doing a spyware scan on all the machines from safe mode. Adaware and spybot are good. From there I'd blame the D-Link router. I had the same problem with a Netgear router and I have seen similar things on other D-Link routers. Of course because you are on wireless it could be a lot of things. Might be having little delays due to atmospheric conditions, what ever wireless security you are using, it doesn't like mixed mode (b and g), etc. Have you tried it via a wired connection? If it does that over a wired connection too it is dump D-Link time, lol.

I've never had any problems with linksys equipment. Then again, I never do any sort of things over wireless that would require good latency (gaming and such) so I never pay close attention to it.

If your talking about something like DishTV or DirectTV then no, it would not interfere. I believe they both use frequencies way up the band, like 10 Ghz. Could be wrong about the specifics but I know it isn't very close to 2.4Ghz. I'd get Netstumbler and see what you find. You can also remove WEP if your using it and test to see if it makes a difference.
