From my last post, I learned that my power supply is 420 watts and not really 460 watts. I also learned options for my computer.

PSU really being 420 watts:

I was wondering if a decent 420 watts can handle a 550 gtx ti or even a 450 gts?

This is my power supply.

My resolution is 1920x1080

My specs:
3 120mm fans
1 140mm fan
x3 740 (unlocked)
9600 gso 512mb
MSI 770 g-45
2gb ddr3 1333mhz
1tb hard drive
460 watt PSU
Win 7 ult. 32-bit

I'm already planning on getting a new 620watts psu in a couple of months or so. Will my 420 watts be able to handle it tell then or will I need to upgrade my psu before my gpu upgrade?

Solution
Better safe than sorry. I would get a bigger PSU prior to that grand of a graphics card leap. Your current PSU is a "cheaper" PSU (Not cheap but, also not high end, a great general use PSU) so I wouldn't push it to that extent. It could 'probably' handle it but, .:read first words:. a 450 GTS could probably run a few months on your PSU but, it's a much lesser card. (hence the GTS)

Thanks a lot. I think I can play a little bit longer on low graphics before upgrading.
