I believe you can do the same thing with the software. However, if you have one of those switches selected and you try to do the other through the software, it causes conflicts and probably crashes (that you will not find immediately apparent). And then you will have to open the case to un-set the switch.

And of course you can't set both at the same time. . .

Harmful? Beats me. Also, you have to make sure which way is on/off. I remember reading that the manual is either backwards or unclear. I think up is off. Maybe you have them both off.

Anyway, I don't use them. If you have the TPU and EPU software installed, I wouldn't mess with the switches since there seems to be no advantage. Perhaps others know more. [Yea. Probably so].
