Hello everyone, I am new to this forum so I hope this is the right place for this thread.
I plan on building a PC based on the core I7 3770K (when its released), an ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE motherboard, two GTX 680s in SLI and an ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card. I am not sure if adding more PCIe cards (such as a sound or wireless card) will effect the PCIe bandwidth at which the GPUs run at.
So my question is will the motherboard be able to run the two graphics cards at 8X and the sound card, or will it run the graphics cards at 4X since the Z77 chipset only has 16 PCIe lanes?
With the IB CPU in there, your SLI GPU will run on the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot @ x8. Your SLI GPU will block access to two PCIe 2.0 x1 slot, leaving you with the remaining PCIe 2.0 x16 slot @ x4 and 2 PCIe 2.0 x1.
Adding the ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card shouldn't slow your GPU down.
