No video, fans spinning :(

Hi all,

I recently bought an Asus motherboard (P5Q Pro Turbo). I am replacing my OEM motherboard. So the only thing which is new is the board...CPU, video card, etc. all are known to be working with the OEM board.

When I power it on the fans spin and lights go on, but there is no output to my monitor (through an EVGA GTS 250). Is it a dead motherboard? I bought it off eBay.... :non:

2 questions:
- there's no speaker built-in to the board....how can I know if it's beeping at me?
- my PSU only has 4 pins for the CPU power...the board has 8. I plugged it into just the rightmost four pins...could that be the problem?

Thanks,
Austin

More about video fans spinning
  1. Video card. Shorted happen to my ati 4850. Was it touching the south bridge heat sink? It could aslo be the MOBO. The ati 4850 fan ran but the GPU chip set died in it.
  2. Actually addison, I just figured it out....and now I feel kinda stupid...I neglected to connect my video card molex power :pfff: Did that and I see BIOS. Hopefully there won't be anymore problems.

I'm still curious if I should be worried about only having 4-pins for the CPU power...
