I have a Gateway GT5408. I want to throw in a 650 Watt PSU and a new graphics card. Will a Sapphire Vapor - X Radeon HD 5770 fit in my case?

I am not a hardcore gamer, but would at least like to play some games. The integrated graphics doesn't allow for any games to be played on this thing. I was looking for something that could play games like Amnesia, Penumbra, and maybe some others. Don't want to spend a whole of money and don't need the most powerful card on the market.

This is the card I was thinking of getting.

My Specs.
OS: Vista SP1
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 @ 1.80 GHz
RAM: 3GB DDR2
Current PSU: 300 Watts :ouch:
MoBo: Intel D945GCF (Pretty much the same as the D945GCL...just made exclusively for Gateway...from what I am told)

The Vapor-X 5770 is not near as large as some of the upscale cards on the market today, or even as big as some other 5770's if i remember right, i don't see why it wouldn't fit inside your gateway. Provided you power it correctly, which a new 650w PSU would do jut fine, i think you'll come out ok.

You will need to install windows 7,then overclock cpu to atleast 2.8ghz(might not be possible due to intel mobo.i think you need new cpu!otherwise it will be a bottleneck!

I don't think I can OC the CPU in it. It's a Gateway prebuilt. Besides, I don't want to replace the OS, mobo, and the CPU just to install a graphics card. This computer is old and I will be handing it down to my son once I get a new one.

Is there a graphics card that will work for what I want to do (See original post) that won't bottleneck my cpu?

My budget is $100 - $125 for the card. I will be swapping out the PSU for a 650 watt, but the budget I mentioned is what I set aside for the graphics card.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for all your help so far! I really appreciate it!
