Can i connect 4 pin 12v connector instead of 8 pin 12v connector?

i have in win 400w PSU and it has a 4 pin 12v connector but my motherboard (intel DX58SO) has 8 pin 12v connector. so can i connect 4 pin 12v connector on my motherboard instead of 8 pin 12v connector?. plz help me!

but i wondering about this PSU out real at 300W and 350W .. ?? i sugesst get new PSU with Pure/True Power + high Efficiency

The 4 or 8 pin connector provides added power for the motherboard slots, and perhaps overclocking. Most of the time, using only 4 pins is OK, unless you have a heavily loaded configuration. Read your mobo manual to see what they say.
