Yes there are some newer games that you would be able to play on LOW SETTINGS(and some in high like win Minesweeper......., just kidding), but if you are going to use the computer to play games, I would recommend you to spend some money and get a new gpu...

Of course without knowing your cpu, ram, etc... it´s very difficult to tell you a good gpu for the money, but there are some cheap gpus like this one

gaming is my preference as im upgrading .but not the only reason for upgrade. is really ati better than nvidia would ati 4200 be fine enough to play medium end games:)

secondly how much video memory ati 3000 and ati 4200 provide do they provide upto 512 mb .

With the ATI you could play some low end games. It´s a better option than the Geforce shown. Video memory? These kind of gpus won´t be able to use more than 256 Mb, so no matter if you see "up to 2 Gbs of memory shared"...
 
Why don't you list your full system specs,what games you play and how much your budget is?

Then once we know the details we can help you get the best graphic card for your needs.If you using a desktop and you want to play games theirs really no point in having the use the intregreated card.
