I would have been scared as well with the brand of the PSU (As I've never heard of cougar) but after doing some quick research it actually has very high reviews.

As for the rest, I'm sure you will be happy with the build. Generall G.Skill ram is pretty low profile, and I've never had a case where it interefered with the heatsink.

Post some pics when your build is complete, would like to see.
Enjoy!

ahh sweet alright i feel better now next problem is if the cpu fan is too high ha i have the termaltake armor+ and my V8 cooler hit the side window fan but this one is 4mm smaller so ill hope for best im so excited pics will be up soon.

That's an expensive call though. I'm sorry I never saw your initial thread on here...for that kind of $ you could have gotten an Asrock extreme4 or a Gigabyte P67X-UD3. Both of those boards support SLI and Crossfire (8x & 8x) with the Gigabyte board coming in @ 155 and the Asrock at $165+ when you include shipping. That Asrock is going for $164 + free shipping atm @ superbiiz.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229 <---- That's the Asrock board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128488 <---- That's the Gigabyte board

yeah i saw it too, but i didnt want to say anything because it was already ordered. (you wont just have to replace the mobo, youll probably also have to replace the psu. In other words, you will be entirely rebuilding your computer if you choose to crossfire. i dont know why people order things and THEN ask for advice... but, it does not do to dwell in the past.

Caught what? Where do you people get the impression he wants dual video cards?? And what is wrong with a 700w psu? LOL

Great catch..........err...

Anyways........Cougar makes awesome psu's, don't worry. Not sure why you bought thermal paste but everything looks like a good match.

There's still a chance for the OP if they haven't shipped it yet. Then he can get the Corsair or Atec 750w for cheaper, and switch up on the boards, and if he needs to save a few $ cut the RAM back to 4 gigs (2x2gb) and he's good to go.

Why would someone get a $155 board and $120 700w psu for a single 6950?

That comes out to $275 for board and psu for a single 6950.

ha looks like i did everything wrong huh. Well i dont place to SLI for a few years prob when a new i5 processor comes out to be honest because the only games i play are like Css and GTA4 so i think the 6950 will do just fine. So ill have to upgrade Mobo any ways also the powersupply is just to give it a little more juice. THe mobo and PSU together was 225 (50 discount when combined)

Why_Me, here's the old thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/309483-31-built-1200

I already told him everything that was wrong. I said get an 8x/8x board and an XFX 650W that was on sale.

Extra juice isn't nearly as useful as good clean power from a good PSU.

And you shouldn't need to buy a new mobo for Ivy Bridge at the end of the year if that's what you're talking about wildgene789.

EDIT: I couldn't find anything saying the Cougar was good, but here's some stuff indicating it's probably mediocre, which isn't saying much:
