Hello everyone

I recently installed a new processor (Q9550 Intel Core 2 Quad) and there are times when the computer just fails to boot. It would turn off unexpectedly at the first screen that shows the name of my video card and when I'm lucky it would get to the post screen, but it would also turn off completely at times. There are also times where the computer starts up perfectly fine with no problems, but just before I was playing a game and my computer turned off around 10 - 15 seconds into the game.

Motherboard: Foxconn G31MXP-K
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250
Ram: 4GB
Power Supply: Corsair TX 650W

My old processor was an E5200 Intel Dual Core.

My bios was recently flashed before the installation of the new processor. It is updated with the most recent .bin file from the motherboard's support site.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

Has passed with an engineering sample Q9550.

Check FSB and voltages are correct for chip.

Also is the Corsair suppling the right voltages?
