Pentium-D used the LGA775 socket. All chipsets released for the LGA775 socket are compatible with Pentium-D processors, however, not all motherboards allow for full compatibility due to OEM's preferring to sell new systems and thus locking the bios to certain processor models.

The Pentium D 925 is not a very good processor. Why do you need to change to it? If you could upgrade to an Core 2 Duo processor, that would provide significantly better performance.

However, if you are sitting there with both CPUs, the 925's the better of the two. It's compatible--it's just not a big improvement. ANY Core 2 Duo would be better.

Here is a listing of the compatible chipsets for the Intel® Pentium® D 925 http://ark.intel.com/products/27517/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-925-(4M-Cache-3_00-GHz-800-MHz-FSB)#compatibility. However you would do much better with the Intel Core® 2 Duo processors or even better moving up to a current processor.
