No sound or internet access

Hello,
i received a used laptop which had been wiped clean. I was able to reinstall windows xp but i cannot connect to internet and i don't have sound.

very likely you need the motherboard drivers. Using a different computer, go to the laptop manufacturers webside and get the internet and sound drivers. Likely there will be other drives (northbridge, south bridge, usb, etc) you may also need to install.
