I have a emachines el1210 with a DA078L Boxer motherboard that does not recognize the SATA drives and it does not have any IDE slots. The BIOS does not have any options to run SATA as IDE. I have tried different SATA drives and still no success. It recognizes only USB-CDROM.

If your sure someone did not disable the sata ports in the bios as a joke then you can use a cheap sata controler card provided your pcie slots aren't already filled.

Does you cdrom drive, the sata one in your pc not the usb one, open and close? I was wondeing if you power supply might have issues with sata power.

I determined the SATA ports were defective and stopped attempting to utilize them. emachines does not have an updated BIOS for that motherboard. I resolved the problem by installing a generic JMicron PCIe to SATA II adapter card. This concludes this incident. Thanks
