Hi Guys, I'm new here and have an interesting problem.

I have an GA-8I848 pm fs mobo. I'm not sure what happened but all my onboard usb ports have stopped working...In device manager it says that everything's ok and the BIOS is setup perfectly so I don't understand why whatever device I plug in just isn't recognised. Oh, there's no error message either. I'm currently using windows 7 but it's the same on XP.

Could it be a problem with the registry?

Thanks for your help in advance

Welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums!

Before you get too far ahead, can you try 'System Restore'?

Thanks a lot.

I've tried system restore with no joy. I've also tried other OS's Linux other versions of windows. No luck. I don't understand why there is no error messages.
Weird.

Thx again

Delete the 'USB' in Device Manager - shut down the computer - re-start.

If something like an optical mouse doesnt even light up then it sounds like you blew the 5v usb supply which is integrated into the motherbd.

I did try the deleting of USB in device manager, no joy.
@popatim, indeed, I get no joy from anything, USB keyboard, mouse, flash drives. Looks like it's new motherboard then.
Ok, thanks a lot for all your help chaps.

Cheers
