AMD has yet to catch up to Intel in processing power in both the desktop and mobile market. I will have to say the core 2 duo is faster. I did find something for you to check. http://techreport.com/articles.x/21099/8

Intel CPUs can process more instructions per MHz than an AMD CPU. Therefore, a current generation Intel 2.0GHz CPU would be faster than a current generation AMD 2.0GHz CPU.

Llano is based on the older Athlon II CPU architecture rather than the new Phenom II CPU core. The Phenom II could compete against the older Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs. However, the Athlon II core in Llano CPUs would struggle against a Core 2 Duo CPU.

Click the link below to give you an idea of how the dual core Core 2 Duo E8600 @ 3.33GHz competes against the quad core Phenom II X4 955. These are desktop CPUs and as stated before, the Athlon II core has less performance than the Phenom II X4 core.

Note that the dual core E8600 can beat the quad core X4 955 in most of the benchmarks and 3 out of 4 games. The E8600 losses in video encoding because the video programs used can make use of more than 2 cores.

Getting to your choice of a C2D @ 2.0GHz and a quad core Llano A8 @ 1.5GHz, the C2D CPU would be the better choice.
