Hi all:

Just wondering about the performance of an LCD tv as a monitor? I've got an extra Sony LCD (1080) and I was wondering whether it would act as a suitable monitor for gaming.

My system is a i7-930 (3.36 GHz) with dual GTX 460's.

Any advice on whether this is a suitable monitor or whether I should go with a dedicated monitor is most appreciated.

Thanks!

It's about the response time, it's a little bigger for the TVs. Most are suitable for gaming, try it.

Best way to find out is to try it. I have a 46'' Samsung that I connected to my laptop via HDMI. For some reason my input to the keyboard would take about half a second to show up on the TV. This went away when I connected through DVI to the tv's VGA input. Never did find out why, not sure if it was an issue with HDCP or something like that. Wasnt response time because I had no ghosting, and watch fast movies through HDMI with no problems. But, if feasable I recommend trying it out. Since you have the tv, and computer in house it shouldn't be too hard.
