i am running a hd4850 1g videocard on an outdated monitor gateway hd1900 max res 1440x900 came with the gatway package from bestbuy
i ran the ati overdrive autodetect and the clock tested upto 690 and the memory upto 1193 no problems but the monitor won't handle it on any reolution frequency out of range i also have the turbo enabled on the i7cpu running between 2.7&2.9ghz if this matters i plan on upgrading my display to get the full funcionality of this card and when budget allows upgrading video to5770 any recomendations or links to a monitor around 150 to 250$ 21-24in with a good standard resoulution i don't understand monitor specs very well and don't know hd from 1080p i will research monitor spec definitions more but i don't want to get ripped off for being ignorant also aot of the monitors i find online have very general tech specs such as just the model/title of the display or customer reviews please also assume the 5770 upgrade so that will also run on a decent resoletion with high quality settings
i am playing fallout nv now and it runs fine on ultra high max res until i start running lots of high resolution hd texture mods i am running speed fan and gpu-z monitor, temperature and load on the card and cpu are not a problem never a drop in frame rate or hangup just a frequency out of range on the monitor
the motherboard bios say default butt they are up to date for this system and drivers are up to date on card

any links, reccomendations, or suggestions on what i should be looking for greatly appreciated ty in advance

i think your 4850 is already well match with your resolution. before this i'm using GTS250 (which is around HD4850 performance) and game at 1600x900. it perform very well in most game with exception of crysis and metro. by very well i mean i was able to get more than 30FPS in most game with all details crank up to the max without AA. i've never play at 1080 so i can't really comment on that part but i'd expect that 4850 will have to struggle at that resolution. if you want to upgrade your GPU get something better than 5770 if you want noticeable performance increase.

up graded to p236h acer and hd5770 vaporx overclock edition now run fallout new vegas at 1920x1080 with high res mods
ultra high settings my power supply and budget were limited so 5770 seems to be perfect for me never had any problems with frame rates on 4850 never tested i just kept getting a freqency out of range signal with 4850 so i figured if replacing may as well upgrade extra 20$ thanks for replying
coulden't affford 6xxx series and not sure about the load on my psu if i could but im happy with what ive got now
