Looking for a graphics card for gaming

I have a custom built computer.
Specs

Core i3 530
Asrock H55m-ge r2.0
4GB DDR3 1600mhz

I am trying to run COD4 using Intel HD Graphics it runs but is a bit laggy. I have a budget of about £90 but I don't want to pay for something that may be to much.

What graphics card would you recommend and how many watt power supply may I need to upgrade to?

  1. what monitor resolution you got and what is your current PSU?
  2. 1366 x 768 and not sure cit 450w I think but ill upgrade if need be.
  3. for that resolution and PSU i recommend a ATI 5670, should run COD4 maxed easily.
  4. I also plan to run Black ops & MW2 in the future will it run on the ATI 5670
  5. also would I need 512mb or 1GB version of the card
  6. well probably not maxed, maybe it would be better to go with a little more powerful card like this http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-xfx-hd-5770-pci-e-20-%28x16%29-4800mhz-gddr5-gpu-850mhz-800cores-2x-dl-dvi-i-dp-hdmi

should handle future games nicely on your resolution

would be really good to know what PSU you got before you go buy that one though.

EDIT: Found it cheaper here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-149-XF
  7. I need VGA my monitor is VGA only
  8. the card comes with a DVI to VGA adapter, so no problems there.
  9. All I know about my PSU it is cit 450w and I will just upgrade if I need to.
  10. Is it a analogue DVI not DVI-D sorry for asking not reading.
  11. hmm, generally a 450w should handle the 5770 but i have no idea if that PSU of yours is good or crappy one :S
  12. I hate to admit but it will be crappy one
  13. I would prefer to upgrade to a better Brand and a better PSU altogether.
  14. I did some research and the case and PSU cost £22 so it will be crappy.

PS: I didnt make the computer I just bought it
  15. ok, well how much do you have to spend on a PSU and graphics card together?
  16. Well Graphics ill go with the HD 5770 or HD 5670 and £50 for PSU enough for a decent one I get maybe £60 for a quieter version?

i think 430W is pretty weak, get that 500W, then you can run a better GPU in the future too.
  19. Just out of interest would http://www.ebuyer.com/product/240998 be any good with the hd 5770
  20. Oh soory you have already covered that I didnt refresh
  21. it could probably run it but you would be on the edge, i would play safe and go with the 500W.
  22. Yeah I will go with the Corsair Builder Series CX 500W ATX Power Supply
    & HD 5770
  23. awesome, it will be a really good upgrade from the intels IGP lol, most games will probably run on high settings.
  24. Thanks a lot for your help. I cant wait to play COD4 with the 5770
  25. no problem, happy gaming ;)
