Is there a adapter to convert a ddr2 slot to a ddr3 slot

I was wondering if some one can please advice if there is a adapter to convert a ddr2 slot to a ddr3 slot

and often upgrading your motherboard will require a new CPU (as the memory controller is on the CPU)
