Hello

From Intel specifications Socket 775 and 771 have identical (outside) physical dimensions:

So, are Socket 771 & 775 cooling solutions interchangeable. Or, is there a specification somewhere for their respective motherboard fittings which are sufficiently different to make them incompatible? If the latter, what are the motherboard fitting specifications for cooling solutions and could a 775 solution be adapted to fit a 771 processor and motherboard?

Many thanks.
Regards,
Morgan

Referencing this document (page 9 in particular):
http://download.intel.com/design/quality/LGA_Socket_and_Package_Technology_Training.pdf

It seems that at least the motherboard holes at 45 degrees to the socket corners are in the same position.

What I really want is info on the specification for the cooler fastenings so I can see their similarities and differences - I was hoping someone might have some pointers to data sheets etc with some dimensions or information?

Many thanks,
M.
