The mirror lockup feature in the D70 is only for cleaning the sensor. It can not
be used while shooting.

Correct, but other than sensor cleaning, why would one want to use MLU
if it isn't to reduce camera shake, which is exactly what the D100's
anti-vibration feature does?

...maybe to enter a 'shoot blind' competition?

...or some sort of battery saving concept? For which I guess a physical
lockup is required?... do the Canon DSLRs have this?
