Hello, I just got a new PC and its got no OS installed. I'm planning to use my TV as a monitor via a VGA cable. Ive connected the PC with the TV and turned it on but the TV is receiving no signal from it.

Ive got a copy of Windows 7 and a copy of Linux both on discs ready to install but i cant get the machine to boot from disc because i can't get a signal.

There's no problem with the VGA cable, i know for a fact it works, i think its because its not setting the display to the VGA so it won't show, and without visuals i cant change that.

Any suggestions?

I'm on the right channel for the TV, i can get it to work with 3 other computers, which have an OS.

My PC is:

- Power Supply: OCZ 600w StealthXStream II
- CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 840 "95W Edition" 3.20GHz Processor
- Motherboard: nForce 630a (AM3) Motherboard
- RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Hard Drives: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 6GB/s SATA-II 16MB Cache
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 570
- Sound: 7.1 Channel Sound (On-Board)
- Optical Drive: OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
- Cooling: x2 Xigmatek Crystal White LED 120mm Fans

Do you have a 'normal' monitor to try setting up with?
I'd suspect an issue with the graphics card itself so try using the onboard graphics port with the tv or monitor,
just to see if you can get any joy that way,
