P4 2.8 compared to i7 1.7

Hello, I understand the new unit is faster in every other way, however, will I loose speed for video and music editing if I go from my P4 2.8 to a i7 1.7 system?

no, you will not lose anything. an i7(any of them) at 1.7 is faster at every single thing I could think of using a computer for.

Question: You talking about a Phenom 2 X4, or [gulp] a Pentium 4 CPU?

Because a CPU from 5 years ago would totally CRUSH a Pentium 4, nevermind a i7...

from what it looks like to me, it's a pentium 4...... and strangly that i have both cpu's (core i7 720 QM and a pentium 4 2.8GHz...........)

Yes, a core i7 will more than just blow away pent 4. it will destroy it in any form.
