I have Dimension E521,Athlon 64 3800+(2.40GHz, 512K) , I bought it in May 2007.
All of a sudden the desktop showed weird characters, especially the exclamation characters while booting and did never booted, however I could boot in safe mode with networking. After that I tried to do a clean install of Vista 32 bit from the DVD I got from dell, but the installation did not complete successfully and it gave an error. Then I ran the memory and hard ware test, the memory turned out to be fine, but errors showed in hardware and I do not know how to put the pic in the post, but the text says

Error Code 5300:0119
Msg: Detected a failure while writing and reading video memory .Video mode 4h(320X200X4)
Address B 8008h ,expected to read 0h,but read 10001h instead

Some one please advice me what needs to be done to fix it, if it needs a hardware what would be the cheapest I can get in the market to fix it.

Im not 100% positive, but it sounds like your video memory is shot, and it works until it tries to address a certain part of your memory. Cheapest fix would probably to look on tigerdirect/newegg/bestbuy for a cheap video card. You can find pretty good/simple ones for about $50.

Before you commit, please check your motherboard and ensure you have a proper PCI slot to put a video card in, otherwise your options become very limited.
