Is the GTX going to last me significantly longer before being quite outdated?

I am currently running a gt 430 graphics card, 4.5gigs of ddr2 ram, windows 7 64 bit, and a AMD Phenom quad-core 9500 2.2GHz processor. I play Starcraft 2, Steam games including Left 4 Dead and Killing Floor, other FPS games (BC2 CoD etc), Dragon Age etc., and Im going to be purchasing Battlefield 3 when it comes out. Im looking for tips on upgrades for a mid grade budget.
I am going to be upgrading my power supply from 300 watts to 500 watts.

Is my processor going to drag my graphics down and performance in general?

Monitor res at 1680 by 1050.

what are the rest of your system specs including monitor resolution?

define "significantly longer" ?

here is a benchmark between the two for your info

Was in the process of adding specs to the original XD. I would say around a year or two would be "significantly longer".

Nobody can see the future but for $15 more the GTX 460 is significantly better than the HD 5770 now.

Where do you see a $15 difference (links if you wouldn't mind)? Everywhere I've seen it's like a $50 difference.

your CPU will affect your gaming especially games like SC2 that prefer two fast cores

at 1680x1050 (and below) the GTX 460 768mb and 1GB version are closer to one another while at higher resolution the 1GB version pulls further away. both are better then the ati 5770, even with its 1GB of RAM.

Even on the more graphic intensive games its not going to make a difference?

-I guess a better question would be: Is the 1gig not worth the extra money for my resolution or is it going to make noticeable difference on graphic intensive games?

at your resolution you will be fine, the GTX 460 768mb can play any game out there at very good 1680x1050 settings. both GTX 460 cards will most likely need to be upgraded at around the same time anyways.

Yes, at that res. GTX 460 768 MB is fine if you don't want to spend little more on 1 GB!

for the PSU: I highly recommend 650W Thermaltake 80+ Modular... modular is great for neat cable management and better airflow in your case...

But will GTX460 768Mb perform smoothly on max on 1280*1024 res?

Yes, it will be flawless..

there is no huge difference between 768 MB vs 1GB anyways..
