Firstly, my motherboad is ASUS P7P55D Evo w i5-760.

When i bought the PC. I had Corsair XMS3 4GB Ram ( 2 x 2GB 1600) 9-9-9-24 1.65V
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260

I needed and upgrade to my Ram. I went looking for another 4GB kit. The shop only had 8GB so i got it anyways.
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 9-9-9-24 1.5V
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233180

So basically, I installed it.. and it seems to work fine.

I wanted to install the 2GB pieces into Slot 1 and 3 and the 4GB into slot 2 and 4. But the guy at the computer shop said to do:
Slot 1: 2GB, Slot 2: 2GB, Slot 3:4GB, Slot 4: 4GB.......

My question is, Is this the right way to do it?? Where should i put what.

Also, in BIOS I enabled the DRAM overclock to 1600, and it asked me whether i want to set the voltage to auto IE. give the ram more V if it needs more voltage. Is this correct?

CPU-Z Says i am running in dual channel tho.. Let me know whether I am doing this right?

Well, I would do it the way you wanted, but it works fine, so leave it be.

2GB pieces into Slot 1black and 3black and the 4GB into slot 2 and 4.

i also think i should switch the modules... But can anyone tell me why?

CPU-Z is reporting it as dual channel even when its still slot 1& 2 = 2gb 3&4=4gb... should i switch?

1 - 3
2 - 4
That is how it was designed, that's why the color is black and blue for easy orientation.

On most mobos. Manual is the key to be sure.

Ok I swapped the ram chips... Slot 1&2 = 2gb, 3&4 = 4gb

Available memory to me was only 6144 MB in the bios lol.. So i swapped it back...

Maybe i should leave it alone seeing that its working
