Using Motherboard Suggested RAM

How important is it to use the RAM suggested by motherboard manufacturers in servers? Most of the RAM being suggested is Hynix,, with a Samsung here or there, which I haven't heard of before and isn't sold on Newegg, which is where I need to get it from.

Will buying a different brand adversely affect the server?
