Hello,
I'll try to make this as painless as possible...
HP Compaq dx2300 Micro Tower
Intel Pentium 4 w/ 3.2 GHz
1.49 GB RAM
Currently has intel 946 GZ Express based motherboard + integrated graphics
I have located a very cheap Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX through a friend but before I purchase it I want to see if the 9800 will fit in the microtower case... Yes I have tried searching like crazy on different sites and yes i have google searched it but I can't seem to find anyone doing the same modification.
I am also looking for advice on a good PSU to go with since my stock PSU is around 250w.
If anyone has done anything close to this or has experience in the field i would appreciate the help
I was told that even if the GPU was compatible my CPU is going to "bottleneck" the card meaning that the upgrade would basically be useless. However, I am not sure how much i trust this persons' judgement.
Just a side note: I bought the comp from my employer for only $10... I really wouldn't mind throwing in $200 to upgrade everything as long as it wouldn't be a huge waste of time and money.
