Raidmax 420w w/ gtx 460

I've got an EVGA 1GB GTX 460 Fermi on the way, but am wondering if my PSU will be able to handle it. Currently running a 9800GT with no issues.

CPU is an Athlon X2 5800+
Power supply is a Raidmax RX-420K (420W)

I doubt it, your PSU only lists 13a on the 12v rail.

No. Your PSU has only a 13 amp 12 volt rail. That will just about power the video card with nothing left over for the rest of the system.

And that doesn't take into consideration the poor quality of the PSU. The absolute minimum I'd consider to power a system with a GTX460 would be a Corsair 430CX. It has more than twice the 12 volt power of the Raidmax and it's a higher quality PSU.

One of my systems has an OC'd Q9550, 4 GB RAM, a GTX260 - a card with similar power requirements to yours, a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard, 3 hard drives and an optical, and a Soundblaster card all powered by a Corsair 750TX.

Running 3 instances of Prime95 to load the CPU and 3DMark06 to load the GPU, it pulls 375 watts from the wall as measured by my Kill-a-Watt meter. Figuring 80% efficiency, the system pulls 300 watts from the PSU.
But you really need the 12 volt power.

10-4 - sounds good, I was worried about it too. I initially thought it might have been a coolermaster 450w, which would have been close, but it ain't. I'll pick up a 500/550w today or tomorrow (both I've looked at are 18a on the 12v)
