I am in the process of buying a lap top to suit my need for school and the desk top will be just for my wife, her pictures and some email stuff. Also we use this for Office 2007 stuff for school and home. I have upgraded a few things that were cheap and if I can get an IDE hard drive cheap I will upgrade that to the max of 250 gb from what i am being told. Maybe the power supply also but that may not be necessary. . I really do not want to have the expense of the new lap top and a new desk top if i can cheaply upgrade it. as far as the motherboard i will need to know spec for a paper a got roped into doing on my home computer for a college class I am taking and i know he will ask specific's about the mother board. i have found all the other info I need so far and to my surprise dell has been pretty cooperative for something bought in 2004.
i just can't get them to give me the motherboard info, they did give me some manual spec's but no real model numbers to reference a good number that a could find a old or current manufacturer. i need that mother board info for the presentation project in this class and if I did not know he would ask me about the motherboard it would not be such a big deal.
thanks for any help.
