Just so happens I know where three of those are - It'll be a few days before I see any of them but I'll see what I can find out... seems to be a common question nowadays
Irony here... cnet pulled their reviews (a good source of info sometimes) of that computer about 2 weeks ago
I have to ask this question... Why? No real value in attempting upgrade on those units

I am in the process of buying a lap top to suit my need for school and the desk top will be just for my wife, her pictures and some email stuff. Also we use this for Office 2007 stuff for school and home. I have upgraded a few things that were cheap and if I can get an IDE hard drive cheap I will upgrade that to the max of 250 gb from what i am being told. Maybe the power supply also but that may not be necessary. . I really do not want to have the expense of the new lap top and a new desk top if i can cheaply upgrade it. as far as the motherboard i will need to know spec for a paper a got roped into doing on my home computer for a college class I am taking and i know he will ask specific's about the mother board. i have found all the other info I need so far and to my surprise dell has been pretty cooperative for something bought in 2004.
i just can't get them to give me the motherboard info, they did give me some manual spec's but no real model numbers to reference a good number that a could find a old or current manufacturer. i need that mother board info for the presentation project in this class and if I did not know he would ask me about the motherboard it would not be such a big deal.
thanks for any help.

You could try Foxconn, they've been one of Dells suppliers for years but they might not know what units their boards get put into... then again, they might

Is that funny that i am doing a college project on the possibility of up grading my home system? I had already started to do this before he started to assign projects. I guess for me it is a real life situation not just a dumb project paper. I guess it is only going to benefit me to know the most about what i currently have, and if it wasn't for buying a laptop I would not even think about upgrading this dinosaur. Now I found on the TXcess surplus site 4 motherboards that say they are for the dell 2400. They all visually look the same as the Board in my system, but not sure what is right? The tech at dell seemed to perk up when i mentioned the G1548.
I not sure what that meant.

I found the number you were talking about and also from the other post a foxconn sticker. I did google the number and found several post with this motherboard. I assume since it has the foxconn sticker that they were the manf. but the foxconn web site does not go back that far with info. I think I have what i need Thanks.
