Hyper 212 Plus installation question

I just installed the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus and to my surprise, it actually rotates after I have tightened the brackets. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? I can't seem to get the retention bracket to lock the heat sink in one position.

Yes it's normal.

Now for another question:

On some installation guides, the fan is placed on the CPU facing the rear side of the case. In others it is on the RAM side of the CPU.

Which side is the correct one to use?

With a single fan it should push air through the heatsink and the airflow should be front to back. So the fan goes on the RAM side.

In some cases you don't have a choice. AM3 socket for example can only be put in place so that the tower faces up the case, not facing the rear. Ram clearance might also affect your choice. Simon12 is right though, when possible, the fan should blow out the case.
