I was just wondering what the differences would be like.
I heard all sorts of things from it being 20% faster to over 70% faster and i even heard someone say it was a repacked 4670.

More about : upgrade 4650 ddr2 5670 1gb gddr5

The HD 5670 is not a "repacked" HD 4670.

Roughly speaking, on average the HD 5670 is about 30% - 40% faster than the HD 4670 depending on the game and the resolution. Also, there is hardly any difference between 512MB and 1GB of RAM versions. See following review

There is virtually no performance difference between 1GB and 512MB of VRAM for the HD 5670.

5670 will be a pretty big performance jump from a 4650. as stated over 50% btu note its still going to be a budget card and not going to be doign gaming at high and even medium settings dependent on resolution... but yea 1 gig vs 512 meg on a 5670 is margional at best unlett you plan to use a multi monitor setup, if you plan to go multi monitor use the 1 gig otehrwise only get it is its a few dollars difference

here's a review comparing the 5670 512 to 1 gig

In australia i can get a 5750 on clearance for cheaper than a 5670, id suggest you look into that.

the issue is as the review i linked showed not whether the game will uuse the memory but rather if the card can process that muchinfo ... which i can't really, i mean there was a very small performance increace with 1 gig ram and i'd attribut that to more memory density than increased memory capacity
